Answer for Question #7 - Qualities of a Leader

Most people agree that it is not easy to select a good leader in school, work, or country. We have duty and right to vote, but we should also be responsible for choosing a person as a leader. Therefore, we should set criteria for voting, and we need to get enough information on candidates before an election. I focus on several qualities of a candidate : honesty, carrer, and enthusiasm.

First, honesty is priority quality as a leader. If a person tends to lie to people, we hardly trust the person's sayings and doings, or promise, so the person can not be a good leader. We usually rely on a candidate who is more honest and answerable for conduct.

Second, educational background and career of a person are very important standards. Most leaders always have to make difficult or serious decisions, and they have duties to solve a lot of problems. Unless a candidate has enough ablilities to do that, he/she cannot be chosen as a leader. Educaional and social backgrounds can be specific quality as a leader.

Lastly, I watch carefully if a candidate has enthusiasm to be a leader . If a person is really eager to be a leader, he/she will do best when he/she becomes a leader. Furthermore, a person with enthusiasm and passion has strong possibility to gain wonderful achievement as a leader. I think that this quality is mandatory for a leader.

I had a few opportunities to vote for a president and a mayor in Korea, and I chose an appropriate candidate by using the above standards each time. The next U.S president, Barack Obama, was alreday chosen by the U.S citizens. I believe that most Americans had thought over before voting, and they made good decisions according to their criteria. Hopefully, the future of the U.S will be bright and brilliant.

Answer for Question #6 - A scary experience I have had

I believe that every one has some scary experinces in life, and, aslo, I have one. It is one of my scary experiences, and it is a sort of mystery. I feel easy to tell the story now although I was so frightened and sacred at that time.

When I was in high school, I was usually very tired because I had to study many subjects and prepare for SAT to enter a university. One day, I went to sleep around 1:00 a.m. after studying. A few hours later, I suddenly woke up to go for a pee. I opened the door of my room and walked to the bathroom. When I was close to it, I saw that the door of the bathroom was open, and the light was on. I thought that my big brother had not turned off the light because he was an uncareful person. Then I rushed into the bathroom. All of sudden, I fell down as soon as I heard a bang, and I felt a sharp pain on my forehead. When I just stood up again rubbing my forehead, I was shocked because the door was closed and the light was off. I was so scared, and I was in a daze for several seconds.

When I told my mom and my friends the story, they said that I had just seen an illusion due to fatigue. However, because I remembered the condition of the bathroom very clearly, I was so puzzled. I forgot most scary things that happened in my life, but I cannot forget this experience. Anyway, after the case, I always double-check the door when I go to the bathroom in dark at night.

Answer for Question #5 - My Favorite Character

I really enjoyed the movie and it was so fun. I hope that we will watch another movie soon, but it means we will have a TOEFL again.

Anyway, my favorite character in the movie is the son of Larry. Oops! I forget his name. At the beginning, he is disappointed with his father although he loves his father. At last, he finds that his father changes to be very confident, and his father is the wonderful man. While I was watching the movie, I had empathy with him.

When I was a child, I couldn't understand my father sometimes. I was wondered why he did say so and why he did respond to me like that. However, as I have grown up, I could understand him little by little. He and I still don't talk a lot, but I always have a mind to appreciate his love and his pray for me.

Answer for Question # 4 - The strangest thing I have ever eaten

Actually, I cannot remember the strangest thing I have ever eaten. I have been in Taiwan, China, France, and Guam, but I have never experienced eating strange things. Most kinds of food I have chosen were normal and the taste of them was good.

In fact, I have a sensitive stomach and intestines, so I usually cannot try something new and strange. If I could see unfamiliar food for the firtst time, it would attrack me and I would be very curious about it. However, I could not dare to give it a try because I would be careful about my health.

Fortunately, I am not a fussy eater, and I can eat most of usual meals. I love American barbecue, Japanese Su-shi, Chinese noodle, Thai sea food, Vietnamese noodle, Mexican chicken, and, of course, Korean food. The one thing that I cannot eat is oyster regardless of raw one or cooked one. Although I know that oyster is very nutritious, the strong smell and taste makes me refuese to eat it.

Answer for Question # 3 - Changing my physical appearance

If I could change my physical appearance, I would like to take away some fat from my legs and put them on the upper part of my body. Although I have an average weight, I don't have a well-proportioned figure. When people look at my face, neck, arms and bust, they tell me that I am slender, but they are a little surprised at my lower part. In summer, especially, I often hear that because I put on a shirt with short sleeves.

Several years ago, I went shopping for a suit with my mother. I picked up nice one and tried it on. The jacket fitted well, but the pants was small for me. When I wore larger size one, the jacket was too big for me. I couldn't buy the suit because they didn't sell the jacket and the pants separately. I remember that I was a little upset at that time.

Even though I have complained about my plump legs all the time, I have not made any efforts to change it. Sometimes, I lost my weight when I was very tired or sick, but my thighs and calves were still same. I am not concerened about them these days; nevertheless, if I could alter my body, I would like to make my legs thinner.

Answer for Question # 2 - My Dream Job

After graduating from a university in Korea, I had a job for several years. I worked in the company that produced the purified chemicals and sold them to a semiconductor company, such as Samsung and LG. It satisfied me a little, but I usually felt unhappy because paperworking and using a computer that repeated every day made me bored and exhausted. At last, I decided to quit my job and continue my study.

I am going to study Pharmacy after attending ALP and getting enough TOEFL score. I have not decided if I study it here or in Korea yet. It depends on many things like English skills, family, health, marriage, money, etc. Anyhow, my second job will be a pharmacist or a professor.

If I could choose another job, a dream job, I would like to be a musical actress since I really love an active musical and beautiful live songs. I always remember watching the musical "Cats" with my friend in winter. We were so impressed at that time. If I could be a musical actress, I would meet many people and work together with pleasure. Furthermore, the empathy with various roles in musicals would make me very happy. Unfortunately, I am not such a good singer, so I know that it is just my dream job.

My uncle's wedding~~~

My aunt and I went to downtown LA for my uncle's wedding today. Although he is just three years older than me, I should call him "Uncle" because his father is my grandfather's younger brother. Before the wedding ceremony began, we took some pictures with close relatives. The ceremony in the church was so wonderful, and the couple looked very lovely and happy. After it finished, we had a lot of Korean food and enjoyed the reception. I prayed that the bride and the groom would always respest each other and do their best to make brilliant future.

On the way home, my aunt suddenly suggested to drop by her friend's house. When we saw her, we were warmly welcomed. She wanted to have dinner with us, but we couldn't because we already had a lot. Instead, we drank some coffee. It was dark outside when we were about to leave there.

We were a bit tired when we arrived at home. My aunt is relaxing in the sofa and watching TV. I am going to check out my homework and think about tomorrow's schedule. These days, I am worried that I don't have enough time to study my major, but I won't push myself. If I am stressed out, I cannot do anything. I know that I need to look on the bright side and take time in studying now. I am telling myself "Hang in there!".

Answer for question# 1

When I arrived at LAX, I was so tired of the long trip. On my way to my aunt's house, I was surprised at strange scenery and weather. There are not many tall buildings, except for downtown LA. Moreover, it was too hot and dry. The most surprising thing is that I can see Spanish everywhere althouhg I already knew that there are many Hispanic people in California. Most people drive a car, so there are usually a few pedestrians on the street. It is very different from Korea!

I missed my family, my freinds, and delicious food made by my mother especially when I didn't feel so good and I was sick. The thing that I miss very much these days is beautiful and cool Fall in Korea. I realized that I should thank God for giving four seasons to Korea. Sometimes, I want to put on a wool sweater and a thick jacket.

Nevertheless, there are several things that I love about living in California. First, it is very quiet, so I can pay attention to my study. Driving a car here is easier than in big cities in Korea. Sometimes, I get frustrated with heavy traffic, but I usually feel comfortable with driving. I also like spacious parking lots. Meeting friends from different countries and cultures makes me happy. They inspire me every day, and I learn many things from them. Finally, I love to get various experience like opening my account in a bank, going to American church, visiting Saint Jude Hospital, and having a short trip to Dallas alone. I believe that it helps me to be brave and be proud of myself. I hope that I will find another interesting things soon.
